Cultural Capital as Internal Power for the Country Development (23/01/2017)

Culture has been early recognized as a pillar in sustainable development in Vietnam and definitely indicated in the resolutions of national congresses of the Communist Party. However, the role of culture as a pillar of sustainable development or as a resource for the country's sustainable development hasn’t been quantified. By applying related theories (theory of sustainable development, theory of cultural capital, theory of cultural identity, theory of value and value system), this article regards culture as an internal resource for the country and nation development - the imperative and crucial issue of Vietnam in the context of market economy, industrialization, modernization and international integration.

Symbol - The Culture Origination (23/01/2017)

Symbol is not only the ontologism but the embodiment of culture. As the overture or origination of culture, symbol and culture is the unity of image and its silhouette. To date, although there have been many arguments over symbol, most of the culturists recognize symbol as pattern for originating the cultural flow. By this meaning, in the article, the author initiatively investigates the origin of symbol, outlining the role of symbol in the culture formation and its significance for life.

The Social Issues in Vietnam and Public Opinions through 2016 Media and Event Collections (23/01/2017)

On ending 2016, the review, voting for significant domestic events from print and online media is likely to rank by field and industry such as: 10 events of science and technology, 10 events of sports, 10 events of Youth Union and youth movement, 10 events of culture-tourism… There is a lack of voting for 10 major events of all aspects of socio-economy, except for Dan Tri, Dan Viet, Tien Phong, Thong tan xa Viet Nam (Vietnam News Agency) websites… other newspapers and websites all cited the Vietnam News Agency review. From the angle of public opinion, these events become social issue in the year. We have selected a list of 8 significant social events. Especially, there are issues that didn’t belong to any newspaper’s or website’s voting, but we still selected basing on the interest of the public opinion, and media have spent much of time when the event occurred.
