Current Livelihoods of Thai Ethnic Group Resettled due to the Construction of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant in Nghe An Province (08/01/2024)

The construction of Ban Ve hydropower plant in Nghe An province has caused nearly 3.000 households with about 14.000 people to be relocated and resettled, the majority of which are Thai ethnic people (accounting for more than 80%) in the form of concentrated resettlement (accounting for more than 90%) within Tuong Duong district (accounting for nearly 20%) and outside Thanh Chuong district (accounting for more than 80%). This form of resettlement helps people benefit from the project’s synchronous infrastructure system (including electricity, roads, schools, stations, houses and cultural houses). However, they encounter limitations such as having to adapt to new land funds and climate, new terrain and new production models. Natural conditions, climate, soil, socio-economic conditions of Tuong Duong and Thanh Chuong districts also have fundamental differences, which has altered the livelihoods of Thai people who resettled here. The most typical livelihood activities of resettled people in the two districts shall be clarified in the article.

The article analyzes the role of the rule of law in the development of countries. The rule of law is said to have positive and multi-dimensional impacts on the development of countries, first but not limited to economic development. In addition, the rule of law has a positive impact on the political, social and cultural development of a country by minimizing social conflicts, strengthening trust, consensus, solidarity and connection between people and the government, preventing and combating abuse of power, corruption and promoting human dynamism and creativity.

Individualism and corruption have a dialectical relationship because individualism inevitably leads to corrupt behavior, and corruption is aimed at satisfying personal needs and motives. During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh emphasized the harmful effects of individualism. He always considered individualism as the source of corruption and other negative phenomena among officers. The article clarifies Ho Chi Minh’s views on manifestations and measures to prevent and combat individualism, thereby discussing the prevention and combat of corruption among officials and Party members today according to Ho Chi Minh’s thought.

Strategic Partnerships in International Relations: Case Study of Vietnam - South Korea Relations (08/01/2024)

The relationship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea has gone through more than 30 years, developing comprehensive and extensive cooperation in many fields. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, Vietnam - South Korea relations have been increasingly upgraded, from partnership and dialogue to comprehensive cooperation partnership (1992-2001), from comprehensive cooperation partner to strategic cooperation partner (2001-2009), and comprehensive strategic partnership on the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (2022). Based on theoretical aspect of strategic partnership and significant achievements between the two countries, the article analyzes the development stages of the relationship between Vietnam and South Korea, thereby providing assessments and suggesting directions for promoting this relationship in the future.

Based on a literature review, the paper clarifies some of the effects of divorce on children in families with divorced parents.
