Living in the spirit of whole country celebrating the 60th year of Dien Bien Phu Victory (1954-2014), VASS has hold an international conferences on “Dien Bien Phu Victory - Vietnam’s power and its stature” in May 5th 2014 in Hanoi. This is an occasion for promoting the education of the love and proud for nation as well as reviewing the lessons about the strengths of people’s war against the violence and the freedom spirit of Vietnamese people. Also, this will be essential lessons for nations to build a peaceful and developing world in which there is no war between international relationship and countries respect the independences of each other. The article is the result of summarizing many research papers of those joined in and presented at the conference on Vietnam’s power and its stature of Dien Bien Phu Victory.

About How to Ensure the Rights of Enjoying Cultural Values in Vietnam Today: Reality and Solution (15/06/2014)

Constitution of the Social Republic of Vietnam 2013 was approved by National Congress in November 28th 2013 and was valid from January 1st 2014. The Constitution has first mentioned to the rights of enjoying cultural values at the Article no. 40 which could be considered as a vivid achivement towards the rights of enjoying cultural values in the international integration and development of Vietnam today. The practice, however, showed us many limitations and challenges in the protection and implementation of enjoying these rights. The article is an additional expalnation to clarify the basic contents and the reality, especially challenges of enjoying the cultural values. The writings also provide some solutions as a way to improve the ensurement and efficiently implement these rights in Vietnam in current circumstance.

Thoughts on Human Rights Through the Criminal Law of Le Dynasty (15/06/2014)

In the history of Vietnamese feudal states, Le Dynasty was evaluated as one of the most prospect period, especially the period of Le Thanh Tong King. By writing and releasing the Criminal Law of Le Dynasty (also known as Hong Duc Law), Le Thanh Tong set the milestone of the highlest level of law formation in Vietnamese feudal dynasties. Back to that period, the Criminal Law of Le Dynasty actually contained many advanced contents, especially regulations on human rights. Thoes ideas showed the ideology of focusing on people and protecting them by the King. They also are the evidences of a modern vision and mindsets of the King when he particularly respect the laws. They are the main contents analyzed by authors in the article.
