Russia and China’s Approach in the BRICS and Vietnam’s Possibility of Participation (30/06/2025)

BRICS (the group of emerging economies) includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). BRICS was established in 2010 and has been playing an increasingly important role in the global economic and political process. Russia and China are not only the founders but also leading countries who have launched many initiatives to promote intra bloc cooperation. Built upon combining mutual strengths, Russia and China’s strategic cooperation in organizations, including the BRICS group, has the potential to shape changes in international relations on a global and regional scale. The article focuses on studying Russia and China’s approaches within the BRICS framework and Vietnam’s possibility of participating in this organization.

Cooperation to Solve the POW/MIA Issue of Vietnam and the United States in the 20th Century (30/06/2025)

In the last three decades of the 20th century, following the end of the American War in Vietnam, the POW/MIA (Prisoner of War/Missing in Action) issue evolved from a complex and contentious problem into a critical factor that propelled the normalization process of relations between the two nations. This article analyzes the origins of the issue, the perspectives of both sides, and the cooperative phases to solve the POW/MIA issue from initial engagement to the eventual agreement and the full normalization of Vietnam U.S. relations in 1995. Furthermore, it underscores the efforts of both countries, the role of key individuals, and the importance of building mutual trust to move beyond the past and look toward the future.

A Critical Review of Literature on the Lo Lo Ethnic Group in Vietnam (30/06/2025)

To date, scholarly research on the Lo Lo ethnic group in Vietnam, particularly those residing in Cao Bang province, remains relatively limited. Despite the small population fewer than 10,000 people, they have received notable attention from the State. Furthermore, their culture has been profoundly influenced by cultural exchanges and integration with the Kinh people, especially within the context of recent development of community-based tourism in the region. This article provides a comprehensive literature review on the Lo Lo people and their community-based tourism activities in Cao Bang province.

Cultural Enjoyment in Vietnam: Some Findings from Quantitative Research (30/06/2025)

Improving people’s cultural life and overcoming the gap in the level of development and cultural enjoyment among regions nationwide, among others, is a goal of the country’s cultural revival. To provide theoretical and practical bases for measuring and evaluating cultural enjoyment, this study applies the cultural enjoyment assessment framework in a number of countries to its survey results in several localities in an attempt to evaluate cultural enjoyment in Vietnam. The research results show that although the level of cultural enjoyment in Vietnam is improving day by day, the gap between population groups in cultural enjoyment still needs further clarification and resolution.

Factors Influencing the Satisfaction of Elderly People (30/06/2025)

The paper analyzes the level of life satisfaction and the influencing factors by using bivariate correlation analysis and regression models. The data analysis reveals that the level of life satisfaction among older adults differs according to gender, health, marital status, and participation in community activities. Accordingly, physical health and marital status have significant impacts. Additionally, their active participation in community activities, particularly through engaging in friend conversations and social activities, positively influences life satisfaction. The study emphasizes the importance of community involvement in improving the mental health and life satisfaction of older adults, and proposes policies to support the elderly in fulfilling their roles within the community.

Some Features of Chinese Web Novels in the First Two Decades of the 21st Century (30/06/2025)

In almost 30 years of formation and development, electronic literature in general and Chinese web novels in particular have achieved certain accomplishments. Chinese electronic literature faces specific drawbacks due to the influence of the virtual world and media. This paper analyzes the formation and development of Chinese web novels from the last decades of the 20th century to now. In this period, Chinese web novels developed some genres and characteristics different from traditional paper publishing, that is, diverse in genres and innovations in topics and languages despite of the need to improve the composition quality.

The Issue of Precepts and Discussion on the Significance of the Existence of Monks and Nuns in Early Modern Japanese Buddhism (30/06/2025)

In the late Edo-early Meiji period, Japan witnessed major political, economic, social, and cultural changes. In that context, Buddhists were forced to accept new government policies including the separation of Shinto and Buddhism, unification of religious practices. In particular, the most shocking regulations for Buddhists were Proclamation No. 133 issued in the 5th year of Meiji (1872) and Proclamation No. 26 issued in the 6th year of Meiji (1873), which clearly stated that monks and nuns could freely live like lay people. These regulations have caused confusion among Japanese Buddhist monks and nuns, as well as division in their views on the precepts and the meaning of the existence of monks and nuns in the new era. Through the analysis of the theories of contemporary Buddhist monks and nuns, the article clarifies the situation and new views on the precepts and the meaning of the existence of monks and nuns as a driving force for reforming Buddhism during that time.
