This article gradually clarifies the main contents of political orientation for cultural development in the Document of 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, then proposes some recommendations towards fostering the realization of political orientation in Vietnam cultural development in the period 2016-2020.

The Heart - the Highest Value of Culture (26/08/2016)

Culture to an extreme extent is the human philosophy of each nation. Because of the historical conditions and living space, each culture will condense its own values that are non-repeated in other cultures making its cultural identity. Like reducing to the same denominator, the common features of different cultures are recognized as the Heart of the cultural subject. History proves that the Heart of cultural subject is always the key to open the dialogue with common sense, to be brave enough to forgive the savage action, and to remove the vendetta towards the sustainable human values. New forms of cultures have been emerged in the XXI centure, but the Heart is still at the highest meaningfull and the most vital for cultures to get closer. On the basis of analyzing and reviewing the diplomatic events, from the cultural perspective, among Vietnam-USA and the USA-Japan, relating to the The Tale of Kieu and the US atomic bombing to two Japanese cities, the author clarifies to highest value of culture - the Heart.

Issues of the Rites to Ancestors in the Families of Catholic Followers (the Case of Ke Sat Parish, Hai Duong) (26/08/2016)

After 3 centuries banning the Christian to carry out the rites to the ancestors, in 1939, Pope Pius XII ratified the instruction Plane Compertum Est - the first breakthrough to partial accept the “Chinese Rites” of the Catholic Church, and to remove the tenssion over centuries. In 1964, this instruction was allowed by the Church to implement in Vietnam. The Pastoral Letter in 1980 with approach of “to live in the gospel in the heart of the nation” has opened many activities of Vietnam Catholic Church in new era, the era of integrating national culture. Thus, in recent years, the Catholic followers in a certain number of places have rebuilt the ancestor’s altars in their home and also rehabilitated family, ancestor churches and made family annals. The article introduces this integration in the Ke Sat Parish (Hai Duong) via the carrying out the rites to ancestors at family level. It indicates that the rites to ancestors of the Catholic followers don’t impact to their religious faith, even enrich the religious activities in the Catholic community.
