Factors Affecting the Financial Performance of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in South Central Region, Vietnam (29/09/2022)

Based on a survey dataset of 46,390 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the Vietnam Enterprise Survey (VES) by the General Statistics Office in 2019, the article analyzes the factors affecting the financial performance of SMEs in the South Central region. The estimated results show that SMEs’ characteristics such as capital, labor, age of the enterprise, labor productivity, business field, form of ownership are important factors that affect their financial efficiency. Besides, the features of the macroenvironment, namely, the size of the intra-provincial market and the quality of local institutions have crucially contributed to the success of SMEs therein. The article also proposes some policy implications to improve the SMEs’ performance in the coming time.

Russia - Ukraine Conflict: Remarks and Forecasts by Foreign Scholars (29/09/2022)

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of the opening of a Special Military Operation in Eastern Ukraine on February 24, 2022 sparked a conflict that raised worldwide concern about its nature as the biggest conflict since the end of the Cold War. How the Russia - Ukraine conflict will continue and how it will end are questions of great interest. The paper presents some international scholars’ remarks and forecasts on the prospects of this conflict.

The Compositions of Female Writers in the First Two Decades of the 21st Century in the Contemporary Chinese Literature (29/09/2022)

In the contemporary Chinese literature, which is characterized by literary movements mainly consisting of radical literature, avant-garde literature, feminine literature, Linglei literature and internet literature, female writers have achieved many successes and gained a firm place in the literature where women are portrayed and the role of female authors are upheld. The paper explores the compositions of Chinese female writers from 1949 to the present featuring female consciousness and female characters in real life. It also indicates that their development trend is increasingly keeping pace with the times, making innovations in writing styles as well as themes, topics, trends, and character building.

Based on the results of a self-administered field survey in 2020, the paper explores the reality of parents’ care in their child’s learning in rural families in Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province in relation to some personal characteristics of parents, children and families. The analysis results indicate that issues related to children’s learning are being focused on by most parents in rural Vu Thu district today.

Cultural and Historical Relics in the Area Planned to Establish a UNESCO Global Geopark in Phu Yen Province (29/09/2022)

Over the course of history, Phu Yen province has become the home of several ethnic groups. Thanks to the cultural blending throughout history, many valuable tangible and intangible cultural heritages are preserved in Phu Yen, which are a great resource for tourism development. Tangible cultural heritages herein are rich in forms and diverse in types, of which mainly cultural and historical relics. Such objective evidence vividly represents the imprints of the times and the spiritual values of the local community and the nation. Based on results of the Project “Research and evaluate the geological value and other heritages as a scientific basis to establish a UNESCO Global Geo-park in Phu Yen province” and other relevant documents, the paper outlines the typical historicalcultural relics in the area where the geo-park is expected to be established.
