Social sciences and humanities have always been considered sharp ideological tools and indispensable theoretical weapons that have made enormous contribution to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. However, the high demands of a new era of the nation’s rise have required the social sciences and humanities to continue to innovate, better fulfill their role in strategic consultations and involve more deeply in the process of policy formulation and implementation. Based on analyzing their strategic consulting role, the paper initially proposes some orientations on quality improvement under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, focusing on strengthening and innovating the Party’s leadership; reforming the institutions and mechanisms of scientific management; building a team of academics with sufficient competence and capacity; increasing strategic investment and international integration; promoting digital transformation and innovation in research methods.
