In “The Third Wave”, Alvin Toffler approaches the history of social development as successive waves of civilization, in which knowledge, technology, communication, and information constitute the fundamental forces driving the dynamics, interactions, and transitions among these waves throughout human history. This article delves into the perspectives of Alvin Toffler on the role of knowledge in the productive forces in “The Third Wave”. It further studies, analyzes and clarifies possible values for Vietnam in order to develop productive forces to meet the requirements of national renewal and the development of the knowledge economy and digital economy in Vietnam today.
