The beliefs and rituals of the Black Lo Lo ethnic people constitute a tightly knit cultural and spiritual system, reflecting an animistic worldview, a complex conception of the soul, and a strong relationship between humans and their ancestors, community, and nature. This article analyzes the core characteristics of the Black Lo Lo belief and ritual system in Cao Bang province. Based on comparisons with the Dao and Hmong people, the sacredness and highly closed nature of the Black Lo Lo ritual system are revealed, leading to a discussion of its potential application in community-based tourism development linked to cultural preservation and proposing some appropriate policy directions.
